Why We Built This

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, responsible for an estimated 21,000 deaths per year per the EPA. It's colorless, odorless, and detectable only through testing. The fix — sub-slab depressurization — is reliable, permanent, and affordable. But finding a qualified contractor has always been harder than it should be.

The problem with existing directories: they mix certified and uncertified contractors, list testers alongside mitigators, and provide no way to verify that credentials are current. Homeowners searching for help have no way to distinguish a licensed professional from someone who installed a fan once.

RadonBase was built to solve that. Every listing in our directory is a certified radon mitigator — verified through NRPP (National Radon Proficiency Program) or NRSB (National Radon Safety Board) certification data. We list mitigators only, not testers. We don't sell unverified leads. We don't let contractors self-certify.

How We Verify Credentials

Our directory is built from official NRPP and NRSB certification data. Both programs are EPA-approved and require contractors to pass written and practical examinations, maintain continuing education, and renew credentials regularly.

What NRPP and NRSB certification means:

  • ✓ Passed a nationally recognized radon mitigation examination
  • ✓ Completed EPA-approved mitigation coursework
  • ✓ Meets continuing education requirements for renewal
  • ✓ Credentials can be independently verified at nrpp.info or nrsb.org

Credential expiration data is included in listings where available. We recommend verifying credentials directly with NRPP or NRSB before hiring any contractor.

Searching RadonBase is free. Browse by state, view credentials, and contact mitigators directly. Pro and Elite listings include phone numbers, website links, and contact forms — so you can get quotes without a middleman.
